Life Drawing

Life drawing is the practice of drawing the human form from a live model, with a focus on anatomy, proportion, gesture, and expression. This formalized practice dates back to artists like Jacques-Louis David, who used structured life drawing sessions to train students in careful observation. In life drawing, “window shading” is a technique where one part of the drawing is fully rendered while the rest remains unfinished, like pulling down a window shade.
